Crisp, cool air is not welcome here.

There have been waves upon waves of joyful excitement crashing on the shore of the blogging sphere. What's the source of all this happiness? The imminence of autumn.

It's almost like you guys are competing over who loves pumpkin spice lattes the most!

But can I please break my silence on the subject and confess that while I do enjoy pumpkin spice lattes as much as the next blogger, I am not at all pleased to wave goodbye to summer?

It's nothing personal. Okay, scratch that. It's personal. I grew up in the tropics, and personally? Autumn offends me. Autumn brings cooler weather and after the cooler weather comes downright cold weather, and I want none of it!

None of it, I tell you!

I want bright sunshine and flip flops and sundresses. I want day trips to the river and lazy days at the pool. I want the sound of the ice cream man driving through the neighborhood (even if I can't afford his overpriced fudge bars).

I want wild flowers, snow cones, and bright blue skies.

Wait, hold the phone! Don't get mad at me!

I can say this for autumn: the leaves turn gorgeous, illuminating colors. Still, it's going to take me a few deep breaths to mentally prepare for the idea of shorter, colder days.

Oh, Autumn! You are so beautiful, yet so devastating.

  1. Aww, just this morning I was thinking what a relief it was to finally have a reprieve from the heat, and cozy indoor times again! I'm glad someone enjoys summer. :)

    1. Today feels like fall, and we have all of our windows open...and I actually...dare I say it...like it? I am just SO not excited about fall turning to winter, but I guess I can enjoy the moment. :)

Spring and summer are still my favorite seasons, though. Make no mistake about that. :)

  2. Okay, so I am partially with you on this one. I LOVE autumn - the colors, the chill, the smell of the leaves rotting on the ground. It is my favorite season (it doesn't hurt that my birthday is often the first day of fall, either =P). BUT I don't like pumpkin spice lattes (or pumpkin anything), and as October ends and November sets in and it starts getting colder and colder, I am over it. And the knowledge that fall leads to winter definitely gets me down, because winter and I do NOT get along very well.

Thankfully, I live in LA now, so none of that matters in the slightest =] I do miss the changing of the seasons, but I'll take perpetual spring and summer over winter any day =]
