One recital down, one to go.

Here is a sneak peak of the tutu I wore for my ballet performance on Saturday.

I loved every moment of the performing experience, from applying thick layers of stage make up, to waiting in the wings for my cue, to helping the 3-4 year old dancers with their tiny shoes and hair ribbons, to the grand finale when the whole school came on stage and danced a few funky moves to Colbie Caillat's "Brighter than the Sun," just before we took our final bows and reveled in the last sounds of applause.

By the way, did you know it's customary to present a dancer with flowers after her performance? Well, it is. And Lila remembered. The flowers sit on my window sill, as I type.

Lila is my biggest fan. She was so enthusiastic about my dancing that she sobbed during all the numbers that did not feature me. She thought it a grave, grave tragedy that I was not on stage at all times, and when I was on stage, she shouted "Nanna! Nanna!" during my saut de chats.

That's better than a "Bravo!" if you ask me.

And while we are on the subject, I get to wear my tutu again next Saturday, for another recital. Do you think I'm excited? You bet I am.

  2. Yay! Go Hannah! I bet you were wonderful! And your niece is better than my cousin: the few times she saw me dance or play flute she NEVER reacted like Lila did. She just sat and watched in glee :)

  3. I want a reason to wear a tutu!!! And I love that song, have you heard the version from Smash (the TV show)? Super good, I listen to it almost every day on my commute.

  4. That's too sweet that Lila is your biggest fan! We're taking Ellie to my cousin's daughter's dance recital this Saturday. I hope Ellie is as enthusiastic as Lila :)
