Chocolate chip cookies

After I read this post about the best chocolate chip cookies in New York City, I tried the recipe almost immediately, and although my cookies did not turn out as scrumptious looking as the ones in the original photo, I think this recipe is a keeper. I was amazed by how the cookies were soft and doughy yet sugar-y and crisp around the edges. Best of both worlds, if you ask me.

By the way, here's a fun tip: I like my cookies warm and fresh, so instead of baking all the dough at once, I made a dozen cookies or so, then stored the leftover dough in the fridge. I baked about four cookies daily for almost a week and a half. That way, Damian and I didn't make ourselves sick by trying to eat as many cookies as possible while they were still warm. Instead, we had fresh cookies every day, which was pretty delightful.

We finally finished the dough yesterday. I think it's time for another batch. :)

  2. The freezing and baking a little at a time is a great idea! We have a lot of stuff that goes to waste with just two of us... I know... hands head in shame. :)

  3. I have a favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe that got me a lot of fans in college :) The secret in mine is to use half butter and half butter-flavored Crisco. The Crisco makes them softer than using only butter, but you still get the delicious taste of the butter instead of just Crisco flavoring.

And now you know all my secrets!

  4. I've totally been baking a batch of cookies everyday for the last 3 days, it's so nice to have fresh cookies. Mine though has been to fill my cookie jar, I bought it in July and I'm just now getting around to filling it.

  8. That recipe is pretty similar to my own, except that I prefer milk chocolate and I use kosher salt.

And now I'm going to be thinking about cookies all day. It's going to be a long shift.

  10. OR you could just eat the cookie dough daily, as I do. I just finished the package I bought...and never cooked a single cookie.

    Oops?
